An
Indonesian volcano shot off gas and lava on Monday, forcing the authorities to evacuate
more than 20,000 villagers.
According
to media reports, the volcano was seen spewing out lava to a height of about
13,000 feet.
Mount
Sinabung is one of Indonesia's 130 active volcanoes due to its fault lines that
encircle the Pacific Basin.
The
country's National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) stated the volcano had
reportedly erupted at least 77 times in one day.
The
residents have resorted to using any means they can to prevent themselves
inhaling the volcanic ash.
In spite of the panic prevailing in the areas
adjoining the volcanic mountain, curious onlookers thronged from various places
to have a look at the lava erupting from Sinabung.
